Abstract:

Social capital as a new concept has an extensive application and potential research domain and has been propounded in social science disciplines such as sociology, anthropology, economics and history. In addition to this discussion, it has considerable political and practical applications. But the method of their application in any given nation and culture, depends on the research of individuals who are aware of the indigenous conditions.

In this research, social capital will be defined as follows:   "a subtle capital in a society, which takes form during the course of time and is based on rationalism and strive after goodness, and its origin, is norm and trust in relation to human interaction which is observable in three structures of leadership, family and organization".

Taking into consideration the components of social capital in various schools can be different. It is important to evaluate this subject to fiend out what component is definable for social capital in an Islamic society. The present thesis is specifically seeking to answer this question that: what is social capital from Islam's perspective? And what are its main components?

Based on the assumption of the writer, there are components in the social-political thoughts of Islam which represent the idea of the social capital.

Based on the Islamic social capital analysis and CRS model, some components that produce trustful relations among members of society or make these relations stronger are found.

Components of Social capital are elicitable and classifiable in three general categories of "structural, relational and cognitive".  These components are available in primary Islamic texts and the Islamic social capital can be produced by promoting them in the society.
