Studying the U.S foreign policy is one of the most
important issues in international relations. On the other hand, Middle
East region has also been the central issue for the U.S politicians
because of its geopolitical role in the world. In better words, the U.S
is pursuing an increasing role in this region and of course there are a
lot of elements which influence U.S policy-making in this regard.
Applying James Roseau’s model, this dissertation is
going to prove the importance of lobbies in shaping the U.S foreign
policy, specially the U.S policy in the Middle East. The Zionist lobby
among these lobbying groups has a great role to preserve Israeli
interests in the region and shaping U.S policies in the region. AIPAC is
the main Zionist lobbying group which is trying to do so through its
solid structure and financial supports of bills and plans in the U.S
government. This dissertation studies the way and means through which
the AIPAC is going to achieve its goals.
The AIPAC main goal is to lead U.S Middle East
foreign policy in accordance with Israeli interests in a way in which
there could be no opposition to those policies. We are witnessing many
examples of these lobbying actions in U.S policies toward Iran, Iraq and
Syria.
The AIPAC’s activities in U.S government have
resulted in U.S hostile policies against Iran. It is clearly observable
in increasing political and economic sanctions and even military threats
against Iran from 2001 to 2006. At the end of the dissertation I have
been mentioned several policies through them Iran can influence the U.S
foreign policy and lobby inside the American political community.
