Abstract:

The Middle East forms the Islamic Republic of Iran’s critical living space and the exact acknowledgement of its changes and transformations is essential to Iran’s stability and existence. This region because of various reasons such as enormous energy resources is also at the core of the attention of global powers and its security has been tied to the global security.

After the events of sep.11, 2001, U.S. strategies in the Middle East changed dramatically and with the declaration of "War against Terrorism" Afghanistan and Iraq were occupied. The Neo-Conservative mainstream asked for fundamental transformation of the Middle East and creation of Big Middle East. According to Strategic Planning Model, in which a specific vision must be defined firstly and some strategies must be designed in order to achieve the mentioned vision, the Big Middle East is now considered as the vision that for its fulfillment, various strategies are being designed and implemented by the United States.

The quality of U.S. strategy in the Middle East after the events of sep.11 is the main question of this research.

Answering to this and subsidiary questions of this research lead us to this theory that "the United States of America in the Middle East region has a grand and polyhedron strategy which contains several political and cultural strategies."

The synchronized use of Hard Power and Soft Power by the White House has created a complicated and miscellaneous composition for analyzing which requires a comprehensive consideration. Therefore, in this research five political strategies including: "Pre-emptive War", "Nonproliferation of Nuclear Weapons", "Disarmament-Demobilization and Re-integration", "Democratization" and "Nation Building" and also two cultural strategies including: "Development of Secular Islam" and "Propagation of American Life Style" are identified and considered.
