Abstract:
In educational institution students are the
important input for the system, furthermore they are part of
organization’s client. Because of the importance of system’s input in
getting goal, the way of student selection is very important too.
Therefore universities, according to their goals and policies, try to
establish the student selection system in such a way that all volunteers
are measured by objective criteria irrespective of individual
consideration and in the just way and finally ranked.
One of these institutions is Imam Sadeq(AS)
University that from the beginning of its establishment with due to its
goal considers some public competencies in the student selection
process, in addition to the usual scientific competencies. In this
regard in addition to scientific competencies religious, cultural and
social competencies of volunteers are studied in the student selection
office of the university and finally the priority of volunteers are
identified. So determining the student selection criteria, weight of
every criterion and measurement method for each of them are very
important for university selection office.
Because of some limitation in scientific
resources for student selection, in this dissertation, among identifying
resemblance between human resource selection and that of students
selection, the result of studies about staff selection has been used to
suggest a suitable solution in student selection. Also AHP and SAW
methods, which are types of MADM methods, were used for reviewing the
existing criteria and determining the weight of them. By applying these
methods the weight and the importance of the criteria of students’
selection in Imam Sadeq(AS) University were identified quantitatively.
Finally the validity of results was evaluated.
For this purpose a sample of student with 30 members was selected. Then
every member of this sample was evaluated one time according to existing
system and another time with this suggested study system. Then these two
groups of scores were compared. By using analysis of variance method it
was specified that in this sample there are not any meaningful
difference between existing system and the suggested system.
So the suggested system has had more advantages
because of its easiness and speediness in application and training of
investigators. But it should be emphasized that the application of the
suggested system in a real case needs to be retested in a bigger sample.
