In order to assess employees and managers, there are
some techniques and models. The important subject is assessment system
provides nearest estimation to reality for users. 360-degree feedback is
a modern system for employee appraisal which gather all point of view
from different sources in order to provide valid and reliable
information about employees performance.
Aim of this research is competency evaluation of
managers in Sapco by 360-degree feedback. Information related to
competency evaluation of managers gathered by R.E.Brown Co and Associate
questionnaire from 4 sources: Selfappraisal, Upper-level manager
appraisal, Subordinate appraisal and Customer appraisal.
There are 8 competencies in questionnaire that
includes 63 items. The main 8 competencies are:

Communicating
(creating understanding within yourself and others)

Planning (defining
goals, selecting strategies, and developing action plans)
·
Organizing (grouping
tasks and resources to achieve goals)
·
Staffing (retaining,
recuiting, selecting and training personnel)
·
Controlling
(monitoring results, comparing against plan, and taking responsive
actions)
·
Leadership (creating
individual and team motivation to achieve goals)
·
Decision making
(selecting best solution)
·
Teamwork (working
together to achieve common goals)
Results of this thesis shows that managers of Sapco
evaluate their competencies meaningfully higher than 3 other sources.
Second higher ratings belongs to subordinate appraisal and results of
immediate supervisores (upper-level managers) appraisal and customer
appraisal are in third category. In other words, There is no significant
difference between upper-level managers idea and customers about
competency evaluation of managers in Sapco
